flitter flies and butter melts

We have  a few cabbage white butterflies flitting about. Not universally popular because they (like most caterpillars) tend to ravage plants. Worth it I think, to have these snippets of clouds floating down our street.
We also saw ladybug eggs, larva, pupa and adults all in one small plot! 
Melissa the entomologist saw a flower fly (Hover flies for the Anglophiles)  that twinkle and dart like tiny green and gold jewels around our sunflowers.
